Our Charentais Melons usually ripen up for picking in Late August and early September. This year they ripened rapidly in the middle of August - most were ready for market, picked and delivered the weekend before Labor Day!
2011- Charentais
Melons were far fewer than we hoped for due to the spring hail.
All of the
better 'market quality' went out to our TOG Coop as soon as they were ripe, and the few seconds we had
are pretty much gone as of Aug-30. Hope and Pray with us for a more cooperative weather pattern next year so we can keep you all happy!
Prior Years: The cool rainy summer of 2009 slowed the melons down quite a bit, and the heat of the 2010 summer gave us a wonderful full flavored taste and a earlier ripening. With a mild flavor, the Charntais is a 'true' Cantelope.
Interested in getting some of these for yourself next year? Be sure to check back in and Send us a message for us to let you know when they're ready! Don't forget to tell us which crop(s) you're interested in! <MESSAGE FORM>
